Program Admission
Prerequisite(s): Recognized college/university level financial accounting course with a “B” (3.0/4.33) average.
Standard Admission
- Prerequisite(s)
- Business-related diploma or 60 credits with a minimum of 24 second year credits
- Minimum “B” (3.0/4.33) GPA
- Minimum three years business-related work/life experience
Flexible Admission
- Prerequisite(s)
- To be considered for Flexible Admission, applicants would normally require a minimum seven years full-time business-related work experience with three years at a manager, supervisor, and/or project manager level.
Additional Recommendations for Admission
All applicants should highlight their strengths in core business areas such as accounting, finance, economics, business communications, marketing and human relations. It is strongly recommended that those interested in the Tourism and Hospitality stream have some work experience in the service industry.
Note: Solid academic writing skills are required for success in this program and an English composition course focused on academic writing is therefore strongly recommended. Chicago citation is used in this program.

Letters of Reference
Typically, applicants will provide one professional letter and one academic or community service letter, but two letters of any combination are generally acceptable.
Letters should confirm suitable candidacy for the program. For example, writers should speak to why s/he believes you will succeed in the program (and why) and that s/he believes the program will benefit you (and why). The context in which the writer has come to know you should also be mentioned. There is no set standard for formatting, length or level of detail.
Statement of Intent
The Statement of Intent should consist of (but is not limited to) a two to three page essay, addressing the following four questions:
1) What influenced your decision to apply to Royal Roads University?
2) Why is this degree appropriate for you?
3) What do you hope to contribute to this program and the university?
4) In 5-10 years, how do you anticipate this program will add value?
If there is any other information that you feel might be of interest or relevance to your application, please include it in the Statement of Intent.
Detailed Resume (Chronological)
- Work Experience: Months and years of employment
- Training and Professional Development: List career related training and professional development programs completed within the past five years. Include the source of training, and the duration and year completed. List other training and personal development programs not already identified.
- Voluntary/Unpaid Work Experience: List and describe any voluntary/unpaid post-secondary employment and/or community service experience. Please include name of organization, length of service and a brief description of duties.
- Information Technology Training and Experience: Briefly describe your level of training and experience in the use of information technology including computers, software and telecommunications networks as tools for business, education, teaching and personal use.
- Professional Memberships/Affiliations: List memberships and positions you hold/have held in professional associations, service clubs, community/volunteer sector.
