Course Description

Drawing from the student’s extensive experience as a professional coach, the body of knowledge related to coaching competencies, insights from the learning process, as well as demonstrations, practice sessions and feedback, the student will build a robust sustainable foundation from which to practice coach mentoring, while also deepening their mastery of coaching. Throughout the course, students will explore the definition of mentor coaching, as distinct from coach supervision; coaching competencies defined by the profession; and examine oral and written feedback strategies for their ability to grow the self-awareness and performance of a coach being mentored. The course requires significant participation. Students will be required to volunteer as both coach and coachee numerous times during the course for demonstration purposes. Pre-requisites: Students are expected to have prerequisite education in the field of coaching (e.g., the Royal Roads University (RRU) Graduate Certificate in Executive Coaching or an acceptable alternative).
