Course Description:

ENSC 403: Several primary and secondary industries are profiled in terms of chemical engineering principles. Strategies for mitigating environmental impacts are assessed and participants learn the basic rationale for, and concepts of, pollution prevention and remediation. The evolution of the concept from its "birth," arising from the failure of environmental protection, to its rise to prominence through support from the precautionary principle, are traced. Strategies for mitigated environmental impacts are assessed. (3 credits)
