Aligned with the competencies found in the curricular design of many degree programs at Royal Roads University, the Continuing Studies Professional Skills Management Certificate includes a comprehensive and experiential suite of short, non-credit courses designed to broaden our understanding and development of; communication skills, personal responsibility, and leadership; planning and performance; critical thinking; and relationship and skill-building in relativity to the position.

We recognize that one size does not fit all and that the most meritorious form of learning – that which may hold the most relevance to our lives and work – may come with crossover into areas that exist outside of these specific bands or horizontally along the different levels of the certificate competencies. NOTE: Any of the courses that you see listed here and in the electives columns, may be substituted where appropriate, in consultation with and approval from the Director (or designate) of Continuing Studies. We encourage you to let us help you customize your certificate to correspond with your current professional needs and accomplish your learning objectives while successfully fulfilling the requirements of the program with in two years of your start date.

As an additional benefit to taking the certificate program and in true experiential learning style, we offer one-on-one coaching services in collaboration with the RRU Graduate Certificate in Executive Coaching, and Concept Coaching by providing an exceptional coaching opportunity to all participants in the Professional Management Skills certificate so learners will experience the merits of having a coach while learning! All coaching is a confidential one-to-one relationship designed to focus energy on achieving specific results through personal, team and organizational development. RRU coaches assist you to find new ways of thinking and behaving, and become a catalyst for change. Time spent with a coach will improve your leadership focus and become an investment of time in your own development and growth and not least it supports a move toward the next level in career satisfaction and performance. Leadership Coaching provides you with an environment that offers a confidential, non-judgmental sounding board that fits with your agenda with thirty minute phone or face to face sessions. The Coach’s role is to listen, observe, and ask insightful questions that lead to discovering new perspectives and directions for achieving success and career management. Additional fees to the certificate program tuitions will apply.
