In this course Joanne will lead you into the world of quiet wonder, imagination and experimentation using the pencil on paper. Together you will explore drawing as creative play, as quiet meditation and as a space for wonder all by moving a pencil across paper. Drawing is a great way to create quiet and peace in our busy lives and yet it also expands our cognitive capabilities by strengthening the links between our verbal and non-verbal abilities. She will sprinkle the classes with theory however our time together will be largely experiential. At registration you will be provided with a supplies list.

Facilitator: Joanne Thomson, MAdEd, is an artist and a child of the West Coast with deep connections to wild places. In her landscape art she captures the experience of sitting quietly in nature, watching, seeing, smelling, listening, and connecting with other living things. Most of her teaching is about assisting others to connect visually and viscerally with the natural landscape and to connect with their own creativity. Joanne lives in Victoria, B.C., and is proudly a healthy middle-aged Canadian with two grown children, a cat and a canoe.
