PEOI1869The Internet has made it easier than ever for people to gather information about their family histories. However, it is still important to use proper research techniques, to understand the records being consulted, and to flesh out the raw details of a family tree with information about the lives of ancestors. Designed for people who have already gathered the basic information on their families, this course stresses the need for research in local history and social history as well as family history, and will help participants understand how to use a wide variety of resources and plan further work.

- Know where to look for other information, and have a better idea how to get past the roadblocks faced by all genealogical researchers
Facilitator: Dave Obee has been researching his family history since 1978, when he took a continuing education course offered by Camosun College. He has written nine books on genealogy. He has given more than 250 presentations on genealogy and history throughout Canada and the United States. He is a former president of the Victoria Genealogical Society, and of the Federation of East European Family History Societies.
