Our 30 day Ontario trip has been very productive. The first week Tim and I attended graduate fairs at Humber College, Sheridan College and Seneca College. In total, over 30 universities from across Canada and overseas were represented. Students went from table to table gathering information on the programs that interested them. Some were looking for business degrees, some wanted to pursue law degrees, some wanted to become writers, while others were passionate about science. The enthusiasm was wonderful. These bright young students are our country’s future. I wonder if they realize how lucky they are to have access to high-quality education?
Last December I met Lindsay, a recruiter from North Island College, at the BC Education Fair in Nanaimo. At the education fair, Lindsay told me about her plans to take a trip to Nicaragua to help children in rural communities who do not have access to basic education and school supplies. Listening to her story compelled me to immediately donate 300 RRU pens for the children. Last week I received an e-mail message from Lindsay thanking me for the pens. In the message she told me about one child that suddenly jumped up when he got an answer correct and hollered "I'm learning!". I'm glad that donating the Royal Roads University pens helped the children's learning experience as well as Lindsay’s amazing experience.
