Catherine Etmanski joined the School of Leadership Studies in 2012 and has taught online since 2005. Prior to teaching at RRU, she was an instructor of leadership (Faculty of Education) and community development (School of Public Administration) at the University of Victoria. Etmanski also worked with the University of Victoria’s Office of Community Based Research, conducting outreach and education.

She has served as a board member or volunteer with Canadian Crossroads International, the Martha Farrell Foundation Canada, the Institute for Child Rights and Development and the Community Social Planning Council.

In 2012, she was awarded for Excellence in Teaching in the Faculty of Education at the University of Victoria. She has worked, studied and lived internationally in such countries as: India, Botswana, the Czech Republic, Fiji and Japan.

Etmanski is passionate about social and environmental justice and seeks to incorporate creative elements into her research, leadership, teaching, and administration. She has edited books related to: “Food Leadership: Leadership and Adult Learning in Global Food Systems Transformation”, "Adult learning through collaborative leadership" and "Learning and teaching community-based research: Linking pedagogy to practice".

She promotes more conscious and collaborative approaches to leadership and served as School Director from 2016 to 2022.
