As an educator with over 35 years experience, Jim specializes in leadership development, conceptual and creative thinking, and small group dynamics. In addition to serving as associate faculty at Royal Roads for the last six years, he was a learning specialist at Mount Royal College in Calgary for six years and, for the last twelve years, have been teaching leadership courses for the Banff Centre. Throughout his career, Jim has assisted hundreds of individuals from the public and private sectors in realizing their learning and performance goals.
Jim holds a PhD in Education as well as a MA Applied Behavioral Sciences with a specialization in Leading and Consulting. His life is an eclectic one. He is a devoted family man, an award winning haiku poet with over 250 published poems, and a former Canadian Orienteering Champion. At home, he spends his time gardening, walking the family dog, practicing Yoga and Tai Chi, reading, messing about with stained glass, discussing the intricacies of life with his wife Colleen and staying in touch with their four adult children and four grandsons. Jim is an active member of the Rotary Club of Oak Bay in Victoria.
