Mark is a law graduate of the University of Victoria (LLB) and the University of London, England (King’s College) (LLM)

Mark qualified to practise law in British Columbia in 1987 and qualified in England and Wales as a barrister in 1992. The terms barrister and solicitor are a holdover from the historical division between lawyers who were either advocates for clients in court (barristers) or were advisors (solicitors) out of court. Some jurisdictions still maintain a separation in the legal profession (England, some Australian states, and some Commonwealth countries).

Mark has been an instructor in law since 1993. Mark’s other interests include outdoor pursuits and volunteer work for the Lester B. Pearson College through the United World Colleges Student Selection Committee for British Columbia.
