Biography: Dr. Axe is the Associate Dean of the Faculty of Management. Originally from the UK, Jo moved to Canada in the 1980s. In addition to holding PhD from the University of Bradford, she is a Certified General Accountant.

Jo has worked for several Greater Victoria companies in accounting, general management, and controllership roles. She also spent four years in public practice working on both corporate and personal tax assignments. Jo has worked in a variety of industries, including theatre, construction, transportation, printing, HVAC, and graphic design. In 2000, she returned to her original training as an educator. In that capacity, she has delivered accounting and finance courses in face-to-face and distance learning environments at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Over the years, Jo has served in volunteer board positions for not-for-profit organizations, including the Southern Vancouver Island Chapter of the Certified General Accountants Association. Also, combining her appreciation for exercise and her love of children, she has coached young children in preparation for skipping demonstrations in local schools as part of the Heart and Stroke Foundation’s Jump Rope for the Heart program. Jo lives in Gordon Head and enjoys hiking the local trails and beaches with her husband, children and their chocolate Labrador Retrievers.
